Mega-rich Americans are funding the abortion push in Ireland. Why?

Thanks to DCLeaks.com and the work of journalist Kevin Jones the truth is finally out there.

George Soros, a U.S. billionaire and one of the richest people in the world, has been secretly pumping funds into the push to legalise abortion in Ireland.

In a private memo, clearly never intended to be seen by the Irish people, Soros’ foundation takes aim at Irish laws protecting unborn babies, and commits to funding three groups who will work ‘collectively’ to legalise abortion – Amnesty Ireland, the Abortion Rights Campaign, and the IFPA.

George Soros, the abortion-friendly, sugar-daddy all abortion activists can run to for pocket money

The revelations are hugely embarrassing for abortion campaigners. Under pressure after journalist Kevin Jones broke the story, all three groups admitted getting money from Soros, who Forbes estimated as having a net wealth of $24.5 billion. Soros’ foundation had requested that they use the money to overturn the Irish Constitution’s ban on abortion.

Between them, Amnesty and the IFPA admitted to getting $300,000, but the Abortion Rights Campaign, who like to pass themselves off as a grassroots organisation, refused to say how many hundreds of thousands of dollars they had received to hire activists and run glossy pro-abortion campaigns.

It’s very likely that all three groups will receive millions of dollars in the run up to a referendum on abortion. Irish abortion campaigners, who are looking to have abortion on demand legalised, are happy to use George Soros’ cash to sway voters in an Irish referendum on a highly divisive issue. It’s very likely that all three groups will receive millions of dollars in the run up to a referendum on abortion. No wonder the media are barely reporting on this leak. They don’t want voters to know that abortion campaigners are so reliant on rich foreigners for money.

But now you know – we all know. A mega-rich American is funding abortion in Ireland, and he is not alone. In fact, in recent years some €18 million dollars has come from a group of US billionaires, including Chuck Feeney and Soros, to boost the work of pro-abortion groups in Ireland.

€18 million dollars can buy a lot of votes. But what is equally disturbing about these billionaires is that they donate millions of dollars to pay for abortions for poor women.

If you are pregnant and poor, they won’t help you escape poverty, but they will pay to have your baby aborted. Why is that? Why do Soros and Feeney and other billionaires like Warren Buffet give so much money to abortion?

In particular, why do they give money to pay for abortions for poor women. They have not, to my knowledge, ever given equal sums to provide help for women in need, to help them keep their babies and raise their babies. (Pro-life groups, on the other hand, invest huge time and money in providing practical, emotional and financial help to women who face an unexpected pregnancy and need support.)

Is it because these billionaires believe that people living in poverty, people who are disadvantaged, or people whose lives are difficult, are better off aborted?

Is it because these billionaires believe that people living in poverty, people who are disadvantaged, or people whose lives are difficult, are better off aborted?

Margaret Sanger, who founded the world’s biggest abortion chain, believed that people living in poverty were ‘unfit’ to have children and describe them as reckless breeders. That’s pretty repellent stuff, but look at Warren Buffett, who, like Soros, is one of the richest men in the world. He gave $21 MILLION in 2011 alone to pay for abortions for women living in poverty. This is a man rich almost beyond measure, and women with a crisis pregnancy often need financial assistance and support. He could give millions to crisis pregnancy agencies, who let women make real choices which are not dictated by fear and panic, who help mothers so they can raise and love their children and make a better future for them both.

But instead he pays for poor women to abort their babies. They’ll only get the cash if they want their baby’s life ended.

There’s a real whiff of ruthless control about all of this. Rich, powerful men deciding that babies who are about to be born into poverty are better off dead. Billionaires secretly channelling millions to Irish campaigners to tear down our pro-life culture.

The irony here is that these billionaires are generally business magnates and speculators, yet so-called left-wing groups are happy to accept the bounties of capitalism in order to push abortion. And we repeatedly hear supposed lefties here in Ireland insist that women living in poverty are most in need of abortion. They are confusing eliminating poverty with eliminating poor people.

Everyone, however disadvantaged, however vulnerable, deserves a chance at life. And the numbers of women going to Britain for abortion have fallen by 50% in the past 10 years because Ireland has become more supportive and accepting of unexpected pregnancies.

We Irish should continue to give every baby a chance, and every woman the support they need – because that’s a better answer than abortion. And we, the Irish people, should decide our laws, not George Soros.

Wealthy and powerful billionaires have sold this logic to their minions but in reality they just want less of us and more of them
